Mesa Arizona
Ahhh…Arizona. My first taste of Arizona was on our honeymoon. We spent a day in Phoenix and three days in Sedona. Like most vacations, it wasn’t long enough! We loved Arizona – the climate, the people, the architecture, the new-to-us landscape, the history. Personally, I was most intrigued by the ancient Native American ruins and culture. Some artifacts and pictographs are dated back to the ice age, and it’s right here on American soil! Arizona is a beautiful state. We hope to visit again soon, but until then…a custom home portrait set in Arizona is just as sweet!
We met Patricia through a referral of a previous client. We had drawn her cousin’s home the previous year, and Patricia was ready to have her home’s family portrait made! Patricia’s home is everything Arizona – a modern adobe house with lush desert landscape and silver green mountains in the background. I squealed in excitement – My first adobe style architecture! As beautiful as the house is, the landscape elevates this home to the quintessential Arizona retreat…Cacti, mesquite, agave, yucca…this landscape design has it all!
Since the desert terrain is new to us, we asked Patricia to send names of the plants in her yard, so that we could reference Google’s nursery. Amazingly, she sent us a labeled map charting the names and the color blooms associated with each plant. It took a bit of back & forth referencing, and it was so worth it! Take a look at the final rendering, as compared to the actual photograph. This home is a prickly, serene, colorful gold mine.
